Coleus virus

As a viral disease, it alters the plant's metabolic processes at the cellular level, leading to significant morphological changes. The pathogen is highly contagious within the Solenostemon scutellarioides species.

The virus is known to be transmitted primarily through mechanical means, such as cutting, pruning, or pinching if the tools are contaminated. It exploits any breach in the plant's surface to enter the system.

Insects with piercing-sucking mouthparts, particularly aphids, serve as the primary biological vectors. They acquire the virus from infected tissues and transmit it to healthy plants during feeding.
