Common pests associated with this species include mealybugs and aphids, which often congregate on the undersides of leaves or in the axils. Regular inspection and wiping of leaves with a mild insecticidal soap can effectively manage early-stage infestations.

Fungal pathogens such as Phytophthora can cause leaf blight if the environment remains stagnant and overly wet. Proper air circulation and cautious watering practices are essential to mitigate the risk of these infections.
