The crawler stage represents the only mobile phase of this insect. These small, light-colored nymphs move actively across the host plant before finding a suitable site to settle permanently.
Once settled, the nymphs begin to feed and develop their hard outer covering, remaining attached to the plant surface for the rest of their lifecycle.
Identifying this pest requires close inspection, as the immobile adults often mimic the appearance of plant buds, lenticels, or bark irregularities.
