Watermelon SANTA MATILDE

Santa Matilde Watermelon: Setting the Standard for Logistics and Quality

Registered in Ukraine in 2026 and developed by Bayer Holland B.V., the Santa Matilde watermelon hybrid is engineered for professional growers supplying modern retail chains. The core focus of this variety is to balance superior flavor with the physical resilience required for long-distance distribution.

Harvest Quality and Market Performance

Santa Matilde stands out in the competitive market due to its specific post-harvest characteristics, which directly impact profitability:

• Transportability: The hybrid features a robust rind and firm flesh, significantly reducing the risk of damage, bruising, or cracking during transit.
• Marketable Appearance: Uniform fruit size and consistent coloration ensure that the produce meets the high aesthetic standards required for supermarket displays.
• Shelf Life: Excellent storage capabilities allow growers to manage their supply chain more effectively, avoiding the need for immediate liquidation of the harvest.

The primary application for Santa Matilde is the fresh market. Its dense flesh structure is particularly valued in the HoReCa sector, where it maintains its integrity and texture in fruit salads and pre-cut displays. By prioritizing durability without compromising on taste, Santa Matilde provides a reliable solution for producers looking to minimize waste and maximize shelf appeal.
