The Kakhovskiy melon variety is a high-yielding and early-maturing variety, ripening 67-70 days after planting. This variety is characterized by strong plants and round fruits with smooth green skin adorned with dark green stripes. The rind thickness varies from 9 to 12 mm, providing good fruit protection and facilitating transportation. The average weight of the melon ranges from 5 to 7 kg, making it convenient for harvesting and marketing.
The flesh of the Kakhovskiy melon is red, granular, and very juicy, with a pleasant sweet taste. The variety is characterized by high dry matter content (11.4-12.0%) and sugars (9.8-11.5%), as well as vitamin C content of approximately 9.8 mg%. The taste evaluation reaches 4.7 points, confirming its excellent taste qualities.
Kakhovskiy is resistant to drought and frost, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. Yield on dryland can reach up to 35 tons per hectare. The seeds are medium-sized, light-brown, smooth, which facilitates sowing and cultivation. The variety has been included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2005 and is recommended for commercial cultivation.
