The 'ANTARES' watermelon variety is an early-maturing hybrid with a maturation period ranging from 60 to 85 days, depending on growing conditions. The plant is vining, vigorous, and highly leafy, providing reliable protection for fruits from sunburn. The main tendril is of medium length; leaves are light green, lobed, and slightly wrinkled. The plant forms 2-3 large fruits weighing from 4.7 to 8 kg, oval or elliptical in shape.
'ANTARES' watermelon fruits have a thick dark green rind with blurred wide stripes or light veins. The flesh is characterized by high density, juiciness, and rich color—ranging from dark red to orange—without fibers. The taste is very sweet and excellent, with high sugar content. Seeds are of medium size, black, and patternless. Thanks to the thick rind and good transportability, fruits retain their market quality for up to 35 days after harvest.
The variety boasts a high yield potential, reaching 2.1-4.2 kg per square meter depending on growing conditions and irrigation. 'ANTARES' is resistant to diseases such as anthracnose and Fusarium wilt, as well as insect pests. These characteristics make it attractive for cultivation in various regions with different climate conditions.
