Vaida VOLZHANKA – a variety of Vaida developed by N.I. Vavilov Saratov State Agrarian University and the Russian Scientific Research Institute for Greenhouse and Corn Culture (NIPTI). The variety is intended for cultivation as a fodder plant, has good yield indicators and disease resistance.
The crop grows for 27–34 days from spring regrowth to the first cutting. Green mass yield is 199–259 c/ha, and dry matter – 49–56 c/ha. Foliage is in the range of 32–39 %. The bush is erect, stem height is 105–134 cm, bushiness is weak. Leaves have an elongated heart-shaped shape and are arranged both alternately and rosetted.
Inflorescences in the form of racemes are gathered into a shield up to 26 cm long; seeds are elongated, inversely egg-shaped. The variety is widely used in agronomic practice for the production of fodder mass, ensuring a stable output of products and high nutritional value.
