Description BABUSHKIN
The BABUSHKIN tomato variety is a tall indeterminate plant, reaching heights of 1.5 to 2 meters. The bushes are vigorous and require pruning to one or two stems and mandatory staking to support both stems and heavy clusters with 3-5 fruits. The leaves are large, dark green, and wrinkled. The variety is characterized by early and mid-season ripening: from transplanting to the beginning of fruiting, it takes about 70-110 days, and the fruiting period continues until autumn frosts. BABUSHKIN is distinguished by high yield and resistance to diseases such as tobacco mosaic, phytophthora, and powdery mildew. The fruits of the BABUSHKIN tomato are large, weighing from 200 to 800 grams, most often around 400 grams, with a flattened-round or pear-shaped form and a characteristic ribbed surface with grooves near the stem. Their color varies from deep red to pinkish-magenta. The flesh is dense, juicy, and moderately succulent, with a small number of seeds located in 6-8 chambers. The taste of the fruits is sweet with a barely noticeable acidity and a rich tomato aroma. The skin is thin, smooth, but tough, preventing cracking and ensuring good storage, especially if the fruits are harvested green and ripened later. This variety is versatile in use: the fruits are excellent for fresh consumption in salads and sandwiches, as well as for making thick tomato juice, paste, sauces, and winter preserves. Due to their meaty texture and rich flavor, BABUSHKIN tomatoes are especially prized for bruschetta and other Italian dishes. The ease of cultivation and high productivity make this variety attractive for both amateur and professional growers, including under plastic coverings.
