Sunflower Kapral

Stability from the Yuriev Institute: The Kapral Sunflower

The «Kapral» sunflower is a time-tested variety developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute in Kharkiv. In a market dominated by intensive, high-maintenance hybrids, this variety stands out as a reliable solution for farmers who prioritize consistent performance and cost-effectiveness over risky, high-input crop strategies.

Key Advantages

• Ecological Plasticity: The variety shows remarkable adaptability to the diverse soil and climatic conditions across Ukraine, ensuring stable results in various farming zones.
• Drought Tolerance: Its genetic makeup provides significant resistance to moisture deficits, making it a preferred choice for regions prone to heat stress and low rainfall.
• Economic Efficiency: As a non-hybrid variety, farmers have the flexibility to use their own harvested seeds for the following seasons, significantly reducing production costs.

Cultivation and Performance

«Kapral» is well-regarded for its high oil content, ensuring it remains an attractive commodity for processing plants. It is important to note that, as a variety, it may not reach the same yield ceilings as intensive hybrids on high-fertility soils. However, it compensates with reliability, offering a consistent return on investment even in challenging, low-input conditions.

The variety shows a solid level of resistance to common pathogens such as downy mildew and broomrape. While it responds well to fertilization and good agricultural practices, it remains a robust choice that doesn't require the same level of intensive chemical intervention as top-tier hybrids.

Is this variety right for you?

«Kapral» is the optimal choice for small-to-medium-sized agricultural businesses aiming to minimize production risks. If you are looking for a «workhorse» variety that performs reliably in difficult weather conditions and helps keep your seed budget under control, this variety is an excellent fit for your crop rotation.
