Sunflower BT 05

Sustainable yield in weed-infested fields

The BT 05 sunflower hybrid by the RAT company is designed for farms operating in environments with high weed pressure, offering a technological solution that simplifies crop protection management. The primary goal of this hybrid is to ensure the preservation of yields through compatibility with imidazolinone herbicides, specifically the Clearfield (Euro-Lightning) technology.

Practical value in crop rotation

Farmers choose BT 05 primarily for fields where conventional weed control methods fail to produce results or involve excessive costs. Using the Clearfield system allows for a single-pass herbicide application that targets a wide range of weeds and broomrape, ensuring the crop remains competitive throughout the growing season.

Resistance to phytopathogens

Biological resistance to major diseases is a critical factor for the BT 05 hybrid. Field data indicate strong resistance to:

• Alternaria blight;
• Phomopsis and Phoma;
• Various types of rot;
• Powdery mildew.

This inherent robustness reduces the need for additional fungicide treatments during critical growth stages, directly lowering the overall production cost per hectare.

Application scenarios

BT 05 by RAT is a tool for those who value efficiency. The optimal use case involves planting in fields with high infestation of thistles and ragweed. Due to its resistance to imidazolinone herbicides, the crop maintains its yield potential even under stress. It is essential that the herbicide application strictly adheres to the sunflower growth stage—typically between the 2nd and 4th pairs of true leaves. Following proper agronomic practices ensures weed-free fields and a stable harvest of oilseeds.
