Cherry sunflower is a high-oleic mid-early hybrid developed by the French company Laboulet and intended for cultivation using the Clearfield technology with the herbicide Euro-Lightning. This hybrid has a vegetative period ranging from 107 to 119 days, depending on the region, and belongs to the mid-early maturing types. Plants reach a height of 175-180 cm, and the 1000-seed weight is approximately 54 grams. The oil content of the seeds varies from 48 to 51%, with oil content reaching 49.2%, and oleic acid content in the oil can reach up to 88%, making the oil high-oleic and valuable for the food industry.

The Cherry hybrid is characterized by high resistance to various stress factors and diseases. It exhibits good drought and heat tolerance (7 points), cold tolerance (8 points), and resistance to lodging, shattering, and rust. Additionally, the hybrid shows resistance to diseases such as white and gray mold, fomopsis, as well as pests including the weevil and sunflower moth. The yield potential reaches up to 5 tons per hectare, confirmed by an average yield in the Central Chernozem region at 33.5 centners per hectare. The recommended planting density depends on soil moisture conditions and ranges from 50,000 to 60,000 plants per hectare.

Cherry sunflower is a versatile and effective choice for cultivation in various climatic conditions, ensuring a stable and high yield of oilseeds with a high content of beneficial fatty acids. Thanks to its agronomic characteristics and disease resistance, this hybrid is suitable for intensive farming and can be successfully used in production systems aimed at obtaining high-quality high-oleic oil.
