Pisanka

Pisanka is a drought-resistant grain soybean (Glycine max) variety developed by the V.Ya. Yuryev Institute of Plant Growing of NAAS and included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2017. It is recommended for cultivation in the Polissia and Forest-Steppe zones. Plants of this variety reach a height of 70-90 cm, with the lower pod attached at a height of about 16 cm. Pisanka soybean is characterized by light-gray pubescence, purple flowers, and oval-round yellow seeds with a light-brown hilum. The 1000-seed weight ranges from 130 to 180 grams. The variety belongs to early-maturing types, with a vegetation period lasting 94-96 days.

This variety exhibits high resistance to lodging and seed shattering, as well as high disease resistance. The drought tolerance of Pisanka is also at a high level, making it suitable for cultivation under variable climatic conditions. The average protein content in the seeds is 38.3%, and oil content is 21.5%, ensuring high nutritional and technological value of the product. The potential yield of this variety reaches 5 tons per hectare.

Soybean is an important agricultural crop in Ukraine, holding a leading position in Europe in production. Soybean is cultivated in all natural-climatic zones of the country, but the most favorable conditions for its cultivation are found in the Forest-Steppe region, known as the "soybean belt." Soybean serves as an excellent preceding crop in crop rotation, contributes to atmospheric nitrogen fixation, and protects soil from erosion, enhancing agroecosystem stability and enabling high yields.
