PILANI — a new generation spring rapeseed hybrid of Swedish breeding LANTMÄNNEN, intended for seed production. This hybrid belongs to the 00 type, meaning the absence of erucic acid and low glucosinolate content, which makes its produce more high-quality and in demand. The plant is characterized by green leaves with a small portion and medium toothedness of the edge, as well as a short height of about 150 cm. Pods without a beak, with a beak and a pedicel of medium length, which facilitates harvest collection and reduces seed losses.
The vegetative period of PILANI is from 95 to 110 days, and the flowering time is about 38 days, which allows the hybrid to successfully adapt to various climatic conditions. The plant is distinguished by high yield: average indicators reach 23.9 c/ha, which exceeds the standard by 2.7 c/ha, and in certain regions, such as Kursk and Lipetsk regions, the yield can reach 39 c/ha and higher. The hybrid demonstrates resistance to lodging, pod cracking, and seed shattering, which significantly reduces losses during harvest and improves the quality of the collected crop.
PILANI has high technological indicators: the number of pods on the plant reaches 400 pieces, each pod contains about 28 seeds, the mass of 1000 seeds is 4.6 grams. The oil content in seeds reaches 44.4–48.1%, which ensures a high oil yield during processing. Due to its agronomic and technological characteristics, this hybrid is a profitable choice for agricultural producers focused on obtaining high-quality and high-yielding rapeseed.
