KENAR

Kenar is a spring rape (Brassica napus var. napus) yellow-seed 000-type variety bred through multiple rounds of individual selection and self-pollination. It features medium plant height ranging from 84 to 112 cm and medium length with a lower branch attachment height from 22 to 43 cm. Kenar seeds weigh between 3.5 and 4.4 g per 1000 units and contain a high oil content ranging from 40.7% to 49.2%, meeting or exceeding standard benchmarks. The proportion of yellow seeds exceeds 85%, while hull content is reduced by 5.2% and fiber content is 3.5% lower compared to the Tavriyon variety. Seed oil content reaches 48%, and glucosinolate levels match the black-seed shell standard variety. The Kenar variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including Ryazan, Tula, and Penza regions, Novosibirsk Oblast, Krasnodar Krai, Republic of Mordovia, Krasnoyarsk Krai, and Republic of Khakasia. It demonstrates high yield varying by region: from 8.9 to 23.9 c/ha, with maximum figures in the East Siberian region. Under Krasnodar Krai conditions, Kenar outperformed the Tavriyon standard by 0.29 t/ha in seed yield and 0.13 t/ha in oil collection. Kenar possesses drought resistance rated from 2.3 to 4.8 points, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. In addition to high productivity, the Kenar variety shows resistance to major diseases and pests, including Fusarium, Alternaria, Peronospora, and Phoma. Rape oil from this variety's seeds is characterized by improved organoleptic properties—pleasant aroma, taste, and high clarity. The variety also ensures high fodder value for meal due to the 000 type, expanding rape usage opportunities not only for oil production but also for feed purposes. Green mass yield reaches 28 t/ha, while potential seed yield is up to 30 c/ha, with protein content around 26%.
