Marfusha

The Marfusha potato variety is a medium-late or late-maturing table-type variety developed by the Institute of Potato Breeding of NAAN in Ukraine. The vegetation period of this variety ranges from 90 to 118 days, allowing for harvest at optimal times. Plants of medium height with semi-erect, strong stems and purple-red flowering form 15 to 20 large, round tubers weighing 95 to 120 grams each per plant. A distinctive feature of this variety is the bright purple skin and flesh, which gives dishes an original and attractive appearance.

The Marfusha variety is characterized by high yield — up to 450-500 centners per hectare (approximately 50 tons), as well as high resistance to major potato diseases, including late blight, potato cancer, golden potato cyst nematode, and stem nematode. High seed material germination (97%) and resistance to degeneration ensure consistent seed quality. The starch content in tubers is about 17.2%, contributing to excellent taste and versatility in cooking.

The Marfusha potato is recommended for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe zones on various types of soils in Ukraine. For planting, use soil heated to 6-8°C, planting tubers 10-15 cm deep, preferably pre-germinated. Thanks to its high storability (up to 9 months) and tuber preservation rate (97% storability), this variety is ideal for long-term storage. In cooking, Marfusha is especially prized for baking and frying, where its flavor qualities and decorative purple color are fully expressed.
