«Sumi-Alpha» relies on esfenvalerate, a synthetic pyrethroid characterized by high isomer purity. As an insecticide, it serves as a robust tool for disrupting the nervous system of pests. The active ingredient functions by blocking sodium channels in nerve cell membranes, triggering rapid paralysis and death. Due to its contact-based nature, the chemical penetrates the chitinous exoskeleton immediately, providing an essential solution for combating mobile pests like flea beetles and cabbage blossom beetles.

Formulation engineering

Developed by Sumitomo Chemical Agro Europe S.A.S., the product utilizes an emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulation designed to maximize leaf surface coverage during spraying. The oil phase facilitates strong adhesion to the waxy surfaces of crops such as oilseed rape or cabbage, mitigating the risk of wash-off during rain. This ensures consistent bioavailability of the active substance under fluctuating environmental conditions.

Application tactics and efficacy control

• Target range: Effective against a wide array of pests, including Colorado potato beetles on tomatoes, cereal leaf beetles on barley, and weevils.
• Usage protocol: Up to 2 applications per season are permitted. The application rate varies from 0.5 to 1.0 L/ha based on field conditions and pest density.
• Safety: The product is classified as Hazard Class 3. A strictly maintained 15-day pre-harvest interval is required to ensure no residue remains in the final agricultural output.
