The efficacy of "Maximum Super" by Willowood Limited is based on a balanced combination of three active ingredients: desmedipham, phenmedipham, and ethofumesate. This is a classic combination for beet protection, where each component handles specific tasks, covering each other’s weaknesses.

Technical Mechanism of Action

The product is a systemic, selective herbicide. Its key advantage is application via the foliage (post-emergence). Upon contact with weed leaves, the active ingredients quickly penetrate the plant tissues. The combination of carbamates (desmedipham and phenmedipham) blocks photosynthetic processes by disrupting electron transport, while ethofumesate (a benzofuran derivative) inhibits cell division in meristematic tissues by blocking lipid synthesis.

Control Spectrum and Dosage

• Target Weeds: Highly effective against broad-leaved weeds, including common lambsquarters, redroot pigweed, field mustard, shepherd's purse, cleavers, field pansy, and purple dead-nettle.
• Application Flexibility: The emulsifiable concentrate formulation ensures uniform leaf coverage. Recommended application rates are 1–3 L/ha depending on the weed and crop growth stage.
• Treatment Schedule: Up to 3 treatments per season are permitted. Due to its selectivity, the herbicide is gentle on fodder and table beets, causing no phytotoxicity when application guidelines are followed.

The emulsifiable concentrate formulation provides high working solution stability and excellent leaf adhesion, which is critical in variable weather conditions.
