When working with Euro-Lang from Nertus, the key is strictly following the application schedule. This systemic herbicide based on imidazolinones (imazamox, imazapyr, imazethapyr) has become the primary tool for those growing resistant sunflower hybrids using the 'Clearfield' technology. In my field experience, it shows consistent results as a post-emergence herbicide, effectively cleaning fields even under high weed pressure.

Effectiveness against a wide range of weeds

Regarding weed control, Euro-Lang deals with problematic species that are difficult to eradicate otherwise:

• Common ragweed and redroot pigweed — vulnerable at early growth stages.
• Quackgrass and field sowthistle — the preparation penetrates deep into the root system.
• Common lambsquarters, wild mustard, black nightshade, and velvetleaf — these are eliminated completely when using the correct dosage.

Due to the antidote in its formula, the sunflower crop tolerates the treatment much better, but it is crucial to remember: this is a selective product. Do not attempt to use it on non-resistant sunflower hybrids, as it will be fatal to the crop.

Application and field tips

Preparing the spray solution is straightforward; the water-soluble concentrate mixes perfectly without clogging the sprayer nozzles. Based on my experience, the application rate of 0.5–1.0 L/ha should be determined strictly by the field's weed infestation level and the crop's development stage (optimally at 2–4 true leaves).
