The Clearfield production system is a standard in modern agriculture, and the Euro-lightning herbicide from Basf S.A. is its cornerstone. Unlike soil-applied herbicides that depend heavily on soil moisture levels, this product allows farmers to manage field conditions effectively after crop emergence. Its primary objective is the comprehensive control of the most troublesome weeds, including broomrape of all known races, common lambsquarters, and green foxtail.

Practical field application

Agronomists choose this herbicide when they need to resolve infestation issues within a tight timeframe. As a systemic herbicide, it is absorbed through leaves and roots, rapidly moving to the weed's growing points to block amino acid biosynthesis. This results in an immediate cessation of weed growth.

• Application timing: Post-emergence treatment should be performed at the 2–4 true leaf stage of the sunflower crop. Precision in timing is critical while weeds are in their early development stages.
• Dosage: The standard rate ranges from 0.5 to 1.0 L/ha, depending on weed density and composition.
• Efficiency: The product is applied once per season. With a pre-harvest interval of just 1 day, it is a highly efficient tool for intensive farming operations.

How it works

The combination of two active ingredients — imazamox and imazapyr — provides a powerful "burn-down" effect that targets not only the foliage but also the root system of the weeds. By choosing Euro-lightning, growers secure predictable yields even in fields with a high historical presence of broomrape.
