Alpha-Bentazon RK is powered by bentazon, a member of the benzothiadiazinone chemical class. Unlike systemic herbicides that translocate through the plant’s vascular system, this product acts primarily through contact. Upon application, it disrupts electron transport within the chloroplasts, effectively halting photosynthesis. Because the target crops have metabolic pathways that can deactivate bentazon, the product remains safe for the crop while inducing irreversible metabolic failure in targeted weeds.

Technical Specifications for Application

The water-soluble concentrate formulation ensures immediate hydration and perfect miscibility when preparing the tank mix. This is vital for maintaining spray nozzle integrity and achieving uniform distribution across the leaf surface. As a contact-based leaf-applied herbicide, the efficacy depends heavily on the coverage quality; utilizing fine-to-medium droplet sizes is recommended to maximize the herbicide’s contact with the foliage of target weeds.

Weed Control and Dosage

The product is specifically engineered for post-emergence control of a broad spectrum of broad-leaved weeds, including pigweed, field mustard, shepherd’s purse, chickweed, and cleavers. Depending on the density of the infestation and the growth stage of the weeds, the application rate varies from 1.5 to 3 liters per hectare. This flexibility allows producers to treat crops such as soybeans, barley, flax, rice, peas, and corn during the most vulnerable weed growth stages (typically at the 2–4 leaf stage).
