The fungicide "Mystik" by the Austrian manufacturer Nufarm is based on tebuconazole, an active ingredient from the triazole class. Its key feature is its systemic mode of action: the product penetrates the plant tissues rapidly and is redistributed throughout the plant, blocking ergosterol biosynthesis in pathogen cells. This process effectively halts mycelial growth and spore development, providing both protective and curative effects.

Cellular Mechanism of Action

The systemic nature of the product allows "Mystik" to combat a broad spectrum of diseases, including rust, septoria, and various types of leaf spots. For agronomists, this translates into:

• Disruption of the fungal life cycle: Tebuconazole interferes with the permeability of the pathogen's cell membranes, leading to rapid mycelium death.
• Protection of new growth: Due to its systemic translocation, emerging plant tissues also receive a level of protection during periods of active vegetation.
• Broad-spectrum control: Highly effective against alternaria, sclerotinia, pink root rot, and net blotch in barley.

Regulations and Practical Application

Formulated as an emulsifiable concentrate, the product facilitates the creation of a homogeneous spray solution and ensures optimal adhesion to leaf surfaces. Application rates range from 0.5 to 1.0 L/ha, depending on the severity of the infestation and the crop growth stage (winter rapeseed, winter wheat, winter barley, or grapes). The number of treatments is limited to two per season, with a pre-harvest interval of 30 days.
