Maize CZ 82

Genetic Architecture and Breeding Context of Woodstock GK 82

The Hungarian maize hybrid GK 82 is rooted in the long-term breeding expertise of Also Kikoto (Szeged). This solution is designed for intensive farming, where every unit of solar radiation utilization is converted into final grain mass. Given its geographical origin (Hungary), the hybrid is adapted to continental climatic conditions, which is crucial for zones prone to short-term soil droughts.

Morphophysiological Features

• Stem Type and Architecture: The plant features a balanced ear insertion height. Stem structural integrity minimizes lodging risks during late-harvest scenarios, allowing agronomists to manage field schedules with flexibility.
• Ear Configuration: The inherent potential of the kernel rows ensures high fill density. Fertility mechanisms guarantee ear uniformity, which facilitates easier combine harvester setup and reduces the percentage of damaged grain during threshing.
• Response to Mineral Nutrition: The hybrid demonstrates a high nitrogen-use efficiency index. Under intensive nitrogen fertilization, GK 82 actively builds vegetative biomass, which is later redistributed to generative organs, ensuring high grain test weight.

Agrotechnical Performance

The practical value of GK 82 lies in its capacity for rapid moisture release during final maturation stages. This reduces logistics costs associated with grain drying, directly impacting crop profitability. The protective system integrated by the breeders provides the necessary immunological threshold against local pathogens typical of regional crop rotation practices. Within the framework of the Hungarian school of breeding, this hybrid exemplifies the balance between yield potential and production efficiency.
