Barley KWS Atrika

Genetic Potential and Adaptability

The winter six-row barley KWS Atrika, developed by the German breeding company KWS, is the result of long-term selection for extreme survival. The key technical parameter of this hybrid is its winter hardiness, rated at 9 points on a 1–9 scale. This means the variety is capable of maintaining productive stand density even during sharp temperature fluctuations and a lack of snow cover in critical winter months.

Phytosanitary Profile and Morphology

Disease resistance in KWS Atrika is engineered to minimize the need for frequent fungicide applications. The variety demonstrates complex immunity to:

• Helminthosporium;
• Rhynchosporium;
• Powdery mildew.

These parameters significantly reduce chemical pressure during the tillering and stem elongation stages. The plant's morphological characteristics (height of 90–100 cm) are balanced to ensure high spike productivity while maintaining resistance to lodging. The six-row spike structure guarantees the formation of large grains with a high 1000-kernel weight, directly translating into higher yield per hectare.

Practical Insights for Agronomists

Integrating KWS Atrika into crop rotation allows for optimized sowing windows and reduced risks of crop loss in stress-prone climatic zones. High tillering capacity, combined with a robust root system, enables the variety to efficiently absorb soil nutrients, ensuring uniform maturation across the entire field.
