Ukraine Launches Support Program for Farmers on Mined and Cleared Lands

Ukraine is launching a comprehensive support program aimed at agricultural producers whose fields have been affected by landmines and active combat operations. Farmers operating in the Kharkiv, Kherson, and Mykolaiv oblasts will be eligible to receive vital assistance to restore agricultural production on lands that remained idle due to explosive hazards.

This new phase of the program is implemented by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, together with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the UN World Food Programme (WFP), in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Environment of Ukraine. Funding is generously provided by the governments of Austria, Canada, Finland, and Poland.

The initiative is designed for agricultural producers cultivating between 3 and 300 hectares of land within designated territorial communities across the three target regions. A mandatory requirement is that the targeted land plots must be located at least 20 kilometers away from active combat zones.

The program covers 25 territorial communities in total. In Kharkiv Oblast, eligible communities include Balakliia, Barvinkove, Chuhuiv, Donetske, Izium, Kunye, Malynivka, Oskil, Pechenihy, Prolisne, Rohan, Savyntsi, Shevchenkove, Slobozhanske, and Vilkhivka. In Kherson Oblast, the program includes Borozenske, Kalynivka, Velyka Oleksandrivka, and Vysokopillia. In Mykolaiv Oblast, they comprise Halytsynove, Horokhivka, Shevchenkove, Shyroke, Snihurivka, and Zavodske.

Applications will be accepted from November 2 to November 30, 2026, via the State Agrarian Register (SAR). Selected farmers will receive vouchers for seeds, fertilizers, and soil agrochemical analysis, alongside professional agronomic consultations and support for humanitarian demining activities to revive local agricultural output.
