Register Now for the Inaugural Equine Conservation Summit on November 14

The Maryland Department of Agriculture’s Horse Outreach Workgroup is pleased to announce that the inaugural Equine Conservation Summit will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026. The event will take place in California, Maryland, at the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland.

Geared toward anyone who owns or cares for horses, the Summit will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET. The program features a comprehensive series of educational workshops covering critical topics such as soil health, nutrient management, equine nutrition, and pasture maintenance, providing participants with essential resources to benefit both horses and land.

The day will conclude with a dedicated panel session, offering horse farm owners the opportunity to ask questions and find the technical and financial resources needed to achieve their management goals. In addition, the Summit will feature an Exhibit Hall where attendees can explore new products, services, and innovative ideas.

Participants are also encouraged to join an informal networking gathering following the Summit at The Greene Turtle in California, Maryland, to connect with other members of the equine community. Registration for the event costs $50.

The Horse Outreach Workgroup provides vital information to horse owners on pasture and manure management. The group consists of representatives from local Soil Conservation Districts, the Maryland Department of Agriculture, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, University of Maryland Extension, the Maryland Horse Council, and the Maryland Horse Industry Board.
