Regaal Resources doubles maize-processing capacity at Bihar plant
India's Regaal Resources has commissioned an expansion of its maize-processing complex in Bihar. The roughly Rs 389 crore project lifts crushing capacity, adds liquid glucose and maltodextrin output, and deepens demand for locally sourced maize.
Regaal Resources has commissioned an expansion of its maize-processing facility at Kishanganj in Bihar, according to The Hindu BusinessLine. The project, built with an investment of about Rs 389 crore, strengthens the company's position in higher value-added maize derivatives rather than simple bulk output alone. For the farm economy, that matters because it expands industrial demand for local maize and improves the depth of the regional procurement network.
The headline change is a doubling of the integrated wet-milling plant's crushing capacity from 825 tonnes per day to 1,650 tonnes per day. Alongside that increase, the company has commissioned a new liquid glucose plant with capacity of 180 tonnes per day and a maltodextrin powder facility with capacity of 50 tonnes per day. In practical terms, the site is moving further up the value chain by converting maize into a wider range of industrial and food ingredients.
Regaal says the expansion is intended to strengthen production capability, improve supply-chain efficiency and meet growing demand from food and beverage companies, pharmaceuticals, textiles, healthcare, animal nutrition and industrial users. That broad customer base is important for maize growers because it links raw-grain demand not only to food markets but also to a wider set of users of starch and sugar derivatives. A more diversified end-use base can make procurement demand more resilient over time.
The company estimates the project will create about 475 additional direct jobs, taking its total workforce to nearly 950 employees. It also expects substantial indirect employment across logistics, warehousing, transport, procurement, contract labour and related services. For Bihar, that means the expansion is not just a factory story; it is also a regional industrial-development story with spillover effects beyond the processing gate.
Regaal also says the project should support thousands of farmers by strengthening local sourcing networks and improving access to organised procurement channels. Chairman and managing director Anil Kishorepuria described the commissioning as a step toward building a diversified maize-based specialty-products company. For growers, that kind of processor evolution matters because a broader product portfolio usually translates into steadier raw-material demand and more predictable buying patterns.
The company has already signalled the next stage of expansion. It plans to add products including dextrose anhydrous, dextrose monohydrate, hydrol and a range of modified starches, with commissioning expected in FY27. If those additions come through on schedule, the Bihar complex will become an even more important node in India's maize-processing chain and a stronger market outlet for surrounding maize production.
