KTZ Restricts Grain Shipments to Uzbekistan Due to Logistics Collapse

National carrier NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) has officially restricted grain transportation through the Saryagash interstate junction point (ISJP). According to order No. 1933 dated October 11 of the current year, a special traffic regime is introduced from October 12 to October 31 inclusive. This decision was made to stabilize the operational situation on the tracks and prevent a complete transportation collapse.

The introduction of strict restrictions is driven by a critical situation on the railway lines. A massive traffic jam involving more than 10,000 railcars has formed in the Saryagash direction. Out of these, over 3,000 are abandoned trains carrying grain cargo. More than 10 freight trains have already been suspended from movement.

To stabilize the operational environment, unload sorting yards, and accelerate railcar turnaround, KTZ is introducing strict daily loading limits for its freight branches. The Uzbek side is physically capable of receiving no more than 400 grain railcars per day, a factor that was taken into account when distributing the new quotas.

The new limits are distributed as follows: Freight Branch 1 (GPF-1) can dispatch up to 190 railcars per day, GPF-2 up to 100 railcars per day, and GPF-12 and 15 no more than 10 railcars per day. These measures will help streamline the flow of cargo and gradually clear the accumulated railcars.

In addition, a complete ban on the rerouting of grain in this direction has been established for the entire duration of the restrictions. The national carrier's order notes that all introduced limits and bans will be cancelled immediately after the train traffic situation at the Saryagash junction normalizes.
