Crystal Crop Protection, a research-driven agricultural inputs company, and Corteva Ltd, a global pure-play agriculture company, have announced a strategic collaboration and supply agreement. The partnership is focused on the development, formulation, manufacturing, and commercialisation of new crop protection products and chemical mixtures specifically for the Indian agricultural landscape. Both companies intend to leverage their respective strengths to deliver enhanced value to local farmers.

Under the terms of the agreement, the responsibilities are clearly delineated between the two entities. Corteva will provide access to technical-grade active ingredients, serving as the foundation for the new products. Meanwhile, Crystal Crop Protection will be responsible for the development, formulation, manufacturing, and marketing of these products across India. This strategic split aims to maximize efficiency and accelerate product availability for growers.

Ankur Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Crystal Crop Protection, highlighted that the collaboration would accelerate the availability of effective, farmer-centric solutions. He emphasized that these new formulations are designed to help growers manage significant pest and weed challenges, which remain a primary concern for farm profitability. The initiative aligns with the goal of supporting farmers in building more resilient and productive agricultural systems.

Subroto Geed, President for South Asia at Corteva, noted that the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to science-led innovation that addresses the evolving needs of Indian agriculture. By combining complementary strengths in technology, product development, and market execution, the companies aim to deliver reliable, safe, and cost-effective crop protection tools. These innovations are expected to play a critical role in supporting sustainable agriculture and improving farm yields.

This development comes at a time when crop protection is increasingly vital for India’s diverse agricultural sector. The country cultivates approximately 48 million hectares of rice and over 13 million hectares of cotton, alongside significant acreage dedicated to horticulture, including chilies, tomatoes, eggplants, okra, and pomegranates. These crops are frequently threatened by a range of sucking pests, caterpillars, mites, and various weed flora, necessitating advanced solutions that are suited to local climatic and soil conditions.
