More European money for Romania: 7 priorities announced by Victor Negrescu

Romania needs to secure more European funding and benefit from expanded investments in education and health. European Parliament Vice-President and MEP Victor Negrescu announced seven core priorities for the coming months, highlighting that the country is entering the decisive stage of negotiations for the future European Union budget for 2028-2034.

Negrescu stated that one of his main directions will center on negotiations for the EU's future budget, with a firm emphasis on maintaining funding for cohesion and agriculture. He stressed that Romania cannot afford to lose European money and pledged to defend local and regional investments while ensuring efficient resource utilization.

In the field of education, the MEP argued that more European funds are necessary, alongside strengthening the Erasmus+ program, supporting social scholarships, and preparing young people for changes brought by artificial intelligence. According to him, Europe cannot remain competitive without investing heavily in people.

Regarding healthcare, Negrescu proposed increased European investments directed at hospitals, medical personnel, prevention, mental health, and telemedicine. His proposals also cover improving access to innovative medicines and advancing medical services within local communities across the country.

Additional priorities include supporting Romanian companies and products by leveraging artificial intelligence, digitalization, and reducing bureaucracy to stimulate job creation and SMEs. The list concludes with modernizing the European Parliament, expanding social campaigns with PES activists Romania, and promoting intelligent economic patriotism to help Romanian enterprises reach broader European markets.
