German multinational Bayer AG has successfully executed a major acquisition, purchasing an 11.91% stake in Bayer CropScience Ltd. According to data released by the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the transaction was completed on Wednesday via a block deal. This strategic move has increased Bayer AG's stake in the Indian agrochemical company from 8.43% to 20.34%.

The total value of the deal reached ₹2,207.09 crore. Bayer AG acquired 5,354,030 shares at an average price of ₹4,122.30 per share. Simultaneously, Bayer CropScience Aktiengesellschaft, another promoter entity, sold an identical number of shares, effectively exiting its position in this specific transaction. Officials confirmed that this was an inter-promoter transfer, ensuring that the overall promoter shareholding in the company remained unchanged.

Following the announcement, shares of Bayer CropScience experienced a minor fluctuation on the NSE, slipping nearly 1% to trade at ₹4,128 per share on Thursday. Despite the slight market dip, the company's underlying fundamentals remain strong, as reflected in its recent financial performance disclosures.

In May 2026, Bayer CropScience reported a 13% increase in net profit for the quarter ending March 2026, reaching ₹162.1 crore, compared to ₹143.3 crore during the same period in the previous year. Revenue from operations for the quarter also saw a healthy 5% growth, climbing to ₹1,100 crore from ₹1,046 crore.

For the full fiscal year 2025-26, the company posted a 21% surge in net profit, totaling ₹689.2 crore. Annual revenue rose to ₹5,675 crore, up from ₹5,473 crore in the prior fiscal year. As a global leader in life sciences, Bayer AG continues to integrate its expertise across pharmaceuticals, consumer health, and crop science to maintain its robust market standing.
