This hybrid, belonging to the Pleurotaceae family, is a cross between Pleurotus eryngii and Pleurotus nebrodensis. It represents a premium culinary mushroom known for its dense texture and rich, nutty flavor profile.
The substrate preparation is the foundation of cultivation. It typically consists of pasteurized straw, hardwood sawdust, and nutrient-rich supplements like wheat bran to ensure robust mycelium colonization.
Climate control is vital. During the incubation phase, a stable temperature of +22°C to +24°C is required. Once the mycelium has fully colonized the block, a cold shock at +12°C to +16°C is necessary to trigger pinning.
Humidity management must be precise, ranging from 85% to 90%. Proper ventilation is equally critical to keep carbon dioxide levels below 0.1%, which prevents the stems from becoming thin and elongated.
Light exposure serves as a trigger for fruit body formation. A diffuse light intensity of 500–1000 lux for 8–10 hours per day is recommended to ensure uniform growth and deep coloration of the mushroom caps.
Yield
