Rostan's gentian

Rostan's gentian (Gentiana rostanii) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Gentianaceae family. It is recognized as a distinctive species primarily found in the alpine regions of France and Italy, where it thrives in specialized mountain niches.

To cultivate this species successfully, one must replicate its natural alpine habitat. The plant requires cool temperatures and high atmospheric humidity during its active growth phase, making it highly sensitive to extreme heat and drought conditions.

Soil requirements are strictly defined by the need for well-drained, acidic to neutral substrates that are rich in organic matter. Despite the plant's need for moisture, it is imperative to avoid waterlogging, which often leads to root decay in alpine species.
