Sowing should be performed in a sterile, well-draining substrate, such as a mix of coconut coir, perlite, and fine vermiculite. Seeds are laid on the surface and covered with a thin layer of substrate to maintain constant moisture levels.

Germination requires sustained temperatures between 28 and 32 degrees Celsius. Using a heat mat is highly recommended to stabilize soil temperature, which is the primary factor in achieving a high germination rate within 7 to 10 days.

Once seedlings develop their first true leaves, they are transplanted into individual containers. It is essential to use small pots initially to prevent the substrate from staying wet for too long, which risks rotting the young roots.

Adequate ventilation after germination is crucial to prevent damping-off disease. Removing the cover gradually helps seedlings acclimate to ambient humidity levels before they are fully exposed to standard growing conditions.

Originating from the arid regions of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, Adenium requires high-intensity light for at least 6–8 hours daily. In agricultural settings, full-sun exposure promotes a compact growth habit and vibrant flowering.

The ideal growing medium must be highly porous. A mixture consisting of 60% inorganic materials (pumice, lava rock, gravel) and 40% organic matter ensures sufficient aeration and prevents water retention in the root zone.

Watering should be strictly regulated: the soil must be allowed to dry completely between sessions. During the winter dormancy phase, the plant should be kept mostly dry in a cooler environment to mirror its natural cycle of seasonal rest.

Temperature management is vital; the plant thrives between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius. If temperatures drop below 15 degrees, growth ceases, and the plant sheds its leaves as a natural defense mechanism against the cold.

Fertilization with low-nitrogen, high-potassium formulas during the growing season encourages robust stem development and promotes profuse blooming without inducing excessive, weak vegetative growth.

Spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs are the primary pests affecting Adenium. These thrive in dry, stagnant air conditions and can cause significant damage by depleting the plant of sap and introducing viral pathogens.

Effective pest management involves systemic insecticides and periodic washing of the foliage with neem oil or specialized horticultural soaps. Early detection during routine inspections remains the most critical defensive strategy.

Root and stem rot caused by fungal pathogens are the most serious threats in cultivation. These usually occur due to poor drainage, overwatering, or insufficient air circulation around the caudex.

Bacterial soft rot can lead to rapid decay of the stem. When identified, surgical removal of the affected area, followed by immediate application of systemic fungicides and drying the wound, is necessary to save the plant.
