These mites primarily damage ornamental crops, certain types of berry bushes, and woody plants. In agroecosystems, they often remain unnoticed due to their microscopic size until clear signs of vegetative organ decline appear. Depending on the region, the range of hosts may vary, including both wild weeds and valuable agricultural crop species.

The biology of Bedelliidae is closely tied to temperature and humidity conditions. The life cycle includes egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, and adult stages. Under favorable conditions, the development of one generation can take from 10 to 14 days, leading to a rapid population growth during the summer season. Mites typically overwinter as diapausing females under bark scales or in plant debris.

Damage involves the depletion of cell sap from leaf tissues, resulting in chlorotic spots, deformation of the leaf blade, and premature leaf drop. The pest predominantly attacks young shoots and the underside of leaves, forming colonies. At high population densities, photosynthesis may slow down, which directly impacts the reduction of yield and the ornamental value of the plants.

The protection system includes both preventive and remedial measures. It is important to practice crop rotation and carry out timely weeding to remove weed reservoirs. For chemical control, specialized systemic or contact-action acaricides are used, taking into account the mite's developmental phases. It is recommended to rotate products to prevent the development of resistant populations.
