Females insert eggs into the leaves or stems of young soybean plants. The larvae hatch and feed internally, creating tunnels known as mines that are characteristic of this family.

Development is highly dependent on environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, which dictate the number of generations per growing season.

What it damages
