This relatively small family is globally recognized in forestry due to the significant impact of its primary pest species, Hyblaea puera, commonly known as the teak defoliator, which has a broad distribution in tropical regions.

Host plants and damage: These pests are primary defoliators of various tree species, with teak (Tectona grandis) being the most economically significant host.
