LYUGOVSKOY

LYUGOVSKOY is a spring rapeseed (Brassica napus var. napus) variety characterized by medium maturity, with a vegetation period ranging from 75 to 127 days depending on growing conditions. The plant has a semi-closed bush with a height ranging from 77 to 125 cm, featuring straight or slightly bent pods of yellow-brown color. The mass of 1000 seeds varies from 3.1 to 4.4 grams. The variety is distinguished by uniform flowering and maturation, as well as increased resistance to lodging and shattering, making it suitable for mechanized harvesting and cultivation both for seeds and forage purposes. LYUGOVSKOY possesses stable productivity with a seed yield of 2.5 to 3.0 tons per hectare and green mass up to 30 tons per hectare. Seeds contain a high level of fat (41.6–46%) and protein (23.1–24.6%), while the content of erucic acid in the oil is low—about 0.4–0.6%, and glucosinolates in the meal and cake are also reduced (0.4–0.6%). Consequently, the meal and cake from LYUGOVSKOY seeds can be used in the diets of livestock and poultry in increased rates, thereby enhancing their forage value. Rapeseed oil belongs to the group of best edible fats and contains about 78% physiologically valuable oleic and linoleic fatty acids. The variety was developed at VNIISKH (All-Russian Institute of Animal Feed) and is characterized by technicability, resistance to standard pests and diseases, such as alternaria, powdery mildew, and root rots. LYUGOVSKOY rapeseed requires fertile soil and adequate moisture for optimal growth and development. Thanks to its agronomic and forage qualities, this variety is widely used in agriculture to produce high-quality oil and feed, and is also suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions.
