Description Yura F1
Rapeseed variety Yura, developed by the Institute of Plant Growing named after V.Ya. Yuryev of NAAN, is a medium-height plant with intensive formation of additional branches. This variety is characterized by high drought and cold resistance, making it especially valuable for cultivation in the eastern forest-steppe of Ukraine. Due to intensive root system development in early growth stages, rapeseed can effectively utilize moisture from deep soil layers, ensuring stable yields even under adverse weather conditions. The variety also exhibits resistance to late frosts and thaws, and synchronized development of first-order branches promotes simultaneous seed ripening, facilitating mechanized harvest. Rapeseed Yura is suitable for both food and technical uses. A distinctive feature of the variety is the formation of pods primarily in the upper third of the plant, reducing losses during harvest, and high pod resistance to cracking allows it to withstand a two-week root storage with minimal losses. Additionally, a strong root system promotes the uptake of poorly soluble substances, reducing cultivation requirements and enhancing resistance to lodging. The variety has passed state variety trials and is recommended for widespread use. Cultivating rapeseed Yura also contributes to improving soil structure and fertility. Rapeseed is an effective cover crop, enriching soil with nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur, oxygenating it, and protecting against erosion. It promotes formation of nutrient-rich biomass and suppresses many disease-causing pathogens, as well as helps in weed control. For successful cultivation, it is important to consider the crop's requirements for planting location and follow crop rotation, as it is not recommended for repeated planting on the same site. Foliar boron fertilization is an important technological measure, as rapeseed requires significant amounts of this micronutrient for high yield formation and successful winter survival.
