The "Millennium 2" mandarin variety is the result of long-term selection at the Sochi Scientific Center. It originated from a cross between the Japanese Kovanovase and Miagavovase varieties, resulting in high yield and outstanding fruit flavor. The trees are dwarf, reaching up to 3 m in height, with a spreading crown featuring large, dark green leaves that are slightly rolled and concave.
The variety's fruits are characterized by a large size (up to 6.8 × 5.5 cm) and a weight of up to 90 g. The peel is orange, 3–4 mm thick, and separates from the flesh with moderate ease, ensuring convenience during consumption. The pulp is tender, juicy, with a bright orange color and abundant juice. Inside, an acid-sweet balance is maintained: sugar content 6.6%, citric acid 0.9%, and ascorbic acid 34.2 mg/100 g.
The variety boasts good frost resistance, comparable to the Unshiu mandarin, and a ripening period in October. Thanks to its high yield and excellent taste qualities, "Millennium 2" appeals to both gardeners and consumers wishing to enjoy fresh, aromatic mandarin with a rich texture.
