In intensive crop production, managing weed pressure is a key factor for securing yield. The systemic herbicide Pulsar® 40 from BASF S.A. has established itself as a reliable solution for controlling a complex spectrum of broadleaf and certain grass weeds in fields of soybean, peas, alfalfa, and imidazolinone-resistant sunflower hybrids.

Why agronomists rely on Pulsar® 40

The herbicide acts through the leaf surface, providing systemic control. Unlike contact herbicides, Pulsar® 40 translocates to the meristematic tissues of target weeds, effectively inhibiting the synthesis of essential amino acids. This makes it an indispensable tool for tackling challenging weeds such as common ragweed, pigweed, lamb's quarters, and black nightshade.

Practical application scenarios

• Dosage flexibility: The product allows for flexible application rates (from 0.5 to 3.0+ L/ha) depending on the weed species composition and growth stage, enabling optimal resource management without overspending on unnecessary volumes.
• Application timing: As a post-emergence (insurance) herbicide, it is applied during active weed growth. A single seasonal application is sufficient to control weed competition during the crop's critical growth period.
• Selectivity: When used on sunflower, strict adherence to cultivation protocols (selecting Clearfield-ready hybrids) is required to minimize crop stress and maximize yield potential.

As a Hazard Class 3 product, standard safety precautions must be followed when preparing the spray solution. The soluble concentrate formulation ensures excellent tank-mix compatibility and uniform leaf coverage.
