Milvus, SL by Rangoli is a contact-based desiccant herbicide formulated as a soluble concentrate (diquat-based). Unlike systemic agents that travel through the vascular system, Milvus operates via direct contact. Upon contact with the leaf surface, the active ingredient causes immediate cellular membrane disruption and photosynthesis blockage, triggering rapid tissue dehydration.

Mechanisms and Agronomic Performance

• Contact-Action Efficacy: The absence of systemic transport ensures the active ingredient is limited to the green biomass, which is vital for maintaining seed quality in sunflowers, soybeans, and peas.
• Rapid Desiccation Rate: The aqueous solution formulation ensures swift absorption upon application. Visual desiccation effects (browning of tissues) are typically evident within 3 to 5 days, accelerating the maturity of the crop.
• Operational Efficiency: Milvus facilitates uniform crop ripening, reducing harvesting downtime and mechanical losses. By lowering seed moisture content, the product minimizes post-harvest drying costs.

Application Guidelines

To achieve optimal results on oilseed rape, soybeans, sunflowers, peas, and potatoes, application rates of 2.0 to 3.0 L/ha are recommended. Because Milvus is a contact herbicide, full coverage is mandatory for success; high-volume water spraying is advised for dense canopy conditions. As a non-selective herbicide with a Category 2 hazard rating, safety protocols must be followed strictly. The mandatory waiting period before harvest is 7–10 days, allowing for safe and effective field management.
