Herbicide has a broad spectrum of activity against broadleaf and certain grassy weeds.
The mechanism of action of Goltix is that the active ingredient is absorbed by both the root system and the leaves of weeds. This increases the duration of its action. Absorption occurs primarily through the root system and is rapidly transported to the leaves. The herbicidal effect of the product is manifested in the inhibition of photosynthesis, which leads to weed death. When applied post-emergence, Goltix is additionally absorbed through the leaves, ensuring maximum herbicide efficacy.
Goltix belongs to the least phytotoxic herbicides. Sugar beet plants, unlike weeds, are able to enzymatically degrade the active ingredient metamitron, making the herbicide safe for sugar beet. This is an important advantage of Goltix, as young sugar beet plants are very sensitive, and growth retardation in early growth stages negatively affects yield.
Due to its low phytotoxicity, Goltix can be applied at virtually any stage of vegetation. Therefore, herbicide application timing can be adjusted according to weed development and soil-climatic conditions. Only under extreme conditions (frost) when applied post-emergence may there be temporary reduced resistance of sugar beet to Goltix.
Application recommendations. Goltix has a very wide range of applications. It can be applied pre-seeding, pre-emergence, or post-emergence.
The temperature range suitable for Goltix application is shifted to lower temperatures compared to other herbicides. At cool weather (9-14 °C), the active ingredient metamitron exhibits high herbicidal activity against weed seedlings. This is an advantage of the product compared to herbicides based on fenmedifam and desmedifam.
It is not recommended to apply Goltix at high temperatures (above 25 °C).
Post-emergence application of Goltix is most effective, as root absorption is supplemented by leaf absorption. Post-emergence application is carried out at the cotyledon stage of weeds regardless of the growth stage of sugar beet plants. If applied at 5.0-6.0 L/ha, it is better to spray earlier — in the 1-2 true leaf stage of sugar beet for rapid weed elimination. Like all soil-applied herbicides, Goltix requires adequate soil moisture to achieve maximum efficacy.
