Flumet is a systemic herbicide formulated with flumetsulam (800 g/kg), a triazolopyrimidine compound. Its primary mechanism involves the inhibition of the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme in sensitive weed species. By blocking the synthesis of essential amino acids (valine, leucine, and isoleucine), the herbicide effectively ceases cell division at the plant's meristematic growth points within hours of application.

Technical Specifications and Formulation

The water-dispersible granule (WG) formulation provides excellent solubility and long-term storage stability. This formulation minimizes dusting during mixing and ensures a precise, uniform concentration of the active ingredient within the tank mix. The high selectivity of flumetsulam allows crops such as soybeans, corn, and winter wheat to metabolize the substance rapidly, preventing phytotoxicity while targeting weeds with high precision.

Control Spectrum and Field Application

The product is highly effective against major broadleaf weeds, including common ragweed, cleavers, common lamb's-quarters, pigweed, and various cruciferous weeds like field mustard and shepherd's purse. As a systemic post-emergence herbicide, it is absorbed through the foliage and translocated throughout the plant. Applying at the recommended rate of 0.02–0.025 kg/ha provides consistent results when weeds are in their active growth phase.
