Efficient Desiccation and Weed Control

As harvest season approaches, uniform crop maturation and moisture management become the top priority. Dukat, WSC (ADG 1/8), produced by Three Delta Company International, is a practical tool that we use both for sunflower desiccation and for controlling late-emerging broad-leaved weeds that hinder combine operation.

The active ingredient is Diquat. It is a contact non-selective herbicide that works almost immediately upon contact. Unlike systemic chemicals, it does not translocate through the plant vascular system but rather destroys the green tissue where the spray hits. This is crucial for desiccation: the crop loses moisture rapidly, and weeds are effectively dried out before they can contaminate the grain hopper.

Field Application and Ease of Handling

For an agronomist, this serves as a reliable “insurance” option. If the field matures unevenly or late rains trigger a second wave of weeds, Dukat allows us to normalize conditions quickly before equipment enters the field. It does not accumulate in the final product, which is a significant advantage when delivering to grain elevators.
