Why Derox is my go-to for early-season weed control

In farming, you only get one chance to win the race against weeds before your crop takes off. Using «Derox» from «August-Bel» has become my standard practice for soil-applied protection. It creates a reliable barrier that keeps fields clean during the most vulnerable early stage of growth.

Field Experience and Application

The active ingredient, prometryn, works systemically. Once weeds begin to germinate, they absorb the chemical from the soil, which shuts down their growth almost instantly. Since it is a selective herbicide, it leaves the crop untouched while targeting annual broadleaf and grass weeds.

• Crop Versatility: I use it on soybeans, sunflowers, carrots, and peas. It is essentially a one-size-fits-all solution for pre-emergence control.
• Dosage and Soil Types: I stick to the 2–4 liters per hectare range. If I am dealing with heavy loam, I go for the higher dose. On lighter, sandier soils, I keep it closer to 2 liters to avoid any risk of crop stress.
• Equipment Friendly: The suspension concentrate formulation mixes exceptionally well. I have never had issues with nozzle clogging or sediment buildup in the spray tank, which is a huge relief during long field days.

One application is typically all you need. Because it is a soil herbicide, moisture is your friend; a little rain shortly after application helps it settle into the top layer where the weeds are germinating. Just keep in mind the hazard class 2 rating—standard safety gear is non-negotiable here. «Derox» is straightforward, predictable, and does exactly what it is designed to do.
