Infinite ® — innovative fungicide with full systemic action for protecting potatoes and vegetable crops. Infinite ® — a product containing the active ingredient fluopicolide, which belongs to a new chemical class and has a unique mode of action against oomycete fungi. The product destroys cell wall and cell matrix connections, which no existing fungicide can do. Fluopicolide’s action extends to all stages of pathogen development, including motile zoospores and both modes of infection — direct (through sporangia) and indirect (via zoospores). It has translaminar action, meaning it can penetrate tissues and move through intercellular spaces. The second active ingredient — propamocarb hydrochloride — is well known not only as a systemic fungicide that moves upward and downward in the plant, but also as a potent growth stimulator. The presence of two active ingredients, together with the new mode of action, prevents the development of pathogen resistance to the product. Late blight of potatoes and tomatoes remains the main threat to these crops. Moreover, in the late 20th century, a new pathogen for this disease appeared in Europe with the so-called A2 compatibility type. Within a few years, it spread across the entire potato and tomato cultivation zone and even began crossing with “old” A1-type pathogens. As a result, new isolates emerged, possessing:
earlier plant infection;
accelerated disease development;
greater aggressiveness;
tendency to severe stem damage;
severe potato tuber infection by zoospores and sporangia, which fall into the soil from infected leaves and stems.
Infinite ® can combat pathogens of both types, as well as forms that emerged as a result of their crossing. MECHANISM OF ACTION Fluopicolide begins to act immediately upon contact with the plant surface. Motile zoospores stop moving and die. Incysted zoospores or mature sporangia die without forming germ tubes.
