Cucumber ACTIVATOR

Focusing on stable greenhouse yields

Working with the "Aktivator" hybrid from Nunhems, it becomes immediately clear why Dutch breeding is considered the industry standard. It’s the kind of hybrid that doesn't throw unpleasant surprises in the middle of the season. From a grower's perspective, this hybrid is all about predictability. While it requires consistent nutrient management, its response to fertilization is textbook.

Operational performance

• Plant architecture: The plant is vigorous with short internodes, which drastically simplifies maintenance: you spend less time on pruning and find it easier to manage plant density.
• Yield management: The hybrid handles high fruit loads exceptionally well. Even during peak harvest periods, the cucumbers remain consistent in size and maintain high marketability.
• Resilience: The Nunhems genetics are evident in the plant's robust immune system. "Aktivator" is less prone to stress from temperature fluctuations, which is critical for greenhouse environments, especially during shoulder seasons.

Handling this crop is straightforward: the fruit is uniform and does not become oversized, which is essential for retailers. If you maintain an optimal irrigation schedule and climate control, the yield becomes predictable down to the kilogram. It is a reliable tool for those who grow vegetables for profit rather than experiments.
