Description BLACK ARONIA
Black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) is a sun-loving shrub reaching up to two and a half meters in height, quickly attracting attention with its decorative value and fruiting. In spring, the plant is covered with lush white or pale pink inflorescences, which transform into glossy black berries with a slightly astringent taste during the summer. The berries are rich in vitamins E, P (first place among vegetables and fruits), A, K, C, B group, as well as trace elements such as iodine, boron, magnesium, manganese, copper, and iron. Additionally, they contain fructose, glucose, and sorbitol, making them suitable even for people with diabetes.

Black chokeberry fruits have healing properties: they help lower blood pressure, normalize cholesterol levels, strengthen blood vessel walls, and improve their elasticity. The pectins present in the berries help eliminate harmful substances and heavy metals from the body, improve digestion, and relieve spasms. Thanks to these properties, black chokeberry is widely used both in cooking (jams, preserves, compotes, pies) and in medicine (decoctions, infusions, juice). Leaves and bark of the plant are also used to prepare decoctions and infusions.

Care for black chokeberry is simple: the plant is undemanding, grows on any type of soil, withstands significant temperature drops and drought. The root system lies not too deep, so adequate watering is important. To achieve maximum yield, regular rejuvenation pruning is necessary. Black chokeberry quickly adapts to any landscape – it is often used as a living fence and decorative element in gardens, and is valued for its ability to lower blood pressure in people with hypertension.
