President Prabowo to Lead Simultaneous Harvests at 43 Locations Across Indonesia

President Prabowo Subianto departed Jakarta on Friday, July 17, 2026, heading to Malang District in East Java to officiate a mass harvest event for rice, sugarcane, and soybeans. Accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking officials—including Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Agrarian Affairs Minister Nusron Wahid, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya—the President embarked on this mission from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base to emphasize the government's commitment to agricultural productivity.
This initiative highlights the crucial contribution of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) toward the national agenda of achieving food self-sufficiency. Secretary Wijaya explained in Jakarta that the President would oversee simultaneous harvesting activities across 43 locations nationwide, underscoring a coordinated national effort to maximize output through military-supported land utilization and agricultural expertise.
Upon his arrival in Malang, President Prabowo will visit an integrated zone of rice fields and plantations located within the Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base complex. The harvest distribution is strategically divided among military branches: the Army is responsible for rice harvesting at 31 sites, the Air Force is tasked with sugarcane in eight regions, and the Navy will manage soybean harvesting across four locations, showcasing a unified cross-branch operation.
Beyond the harvest itself, the President is scheduled to inspect booths showcasing the results of military agricultural initiatives. A key focus of this display is the government’s "downstreaming" policy, which aims to add value to raw farm commodities. The President will review various products, including food staples, refined sugar, and ethanol-based industrial goods, which are critical for the country’s broader energy security and economic strategy.
