Export prices for Kazakh flax continue to strengthen

Last week, export prices for Kazakh oilseed flax seeds in major foreign markets continued their upward trend. According to Yevgeny Karabanov, head of the analytics committee of the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, writing in his Telegram channel, the key driver of the price growth was ongoing logistical difficulties, including restrictions and rising transportation costs for agricultural products.

In particular, the export price under FCA Kazakhstan delivery terms increased by 3 USD per ton, settling within the range of 433–438 USD/t. Meanwhile, contract prices under C&F ARAG terms rose more significantly by 5 USD/t, reaching 675 USD/t for shipments scheduled for November of the current year.

Experts note that the main reason for these changes remains the impossibility of full-scale transit of Kazakh cargo via Russian Railways (RZD) toward the ports of Estonia and Latvia. This is due to the heavy congestion of the October Railway with Russian grain. At the same time, alternative logistical routes are severely limited in capacity and involve higher freight tariffs.

On the eastern front, the price of Kazakh flax under DAP Dostyk / Altynkol terms increased by 2 USD/t, reaching 487–492 USD/t. This dynamic is driven by reviving demand from China and a simultaneous increase in domestic prices on the Chinese market by an average of 50 CNY/t. Meanwhile, quotations for Kazakh brown flax (97% purity) under DAP Poland terms remained unchanged at 495–500 EUR/t.

Regarding the domestic market in Kazakhstan, the situation has remained stable. According to the Grain Union data, EXW prices have not changed and hold at 180–185 thousand tenge per ton, which is approximately equivalent to 398–409 USD/t.
